When hanging lights on your Christmas tree, be sure to use a compatible harness with enough bulbs to meet your desired light density. Here are the materials and steps to follow when stringing lights on a tree.
Material:
tape measure
ladder
Extension cord
Step 1 | Untangle the String Lights
Turn on the light carefully. Test the bulbs to make sure they are in good working order.
Step 2 | Protect the Light
Wrap the first set of lights loosely around your hand. Avoid dragging the strings across the floor.
Step 3 | Hang the Christmas Lights
Make sure to leave enough slack so that the plug can be connected to an extension cord or power outlet. Starting at the bottom, slowly wrap the string of lights around the tree, stringing the lights in and out of the branches.
Step 4 | Fence the tree
Continue to weave lights around your tree, moving up with each rotation. Once the lights run out, insert the next string. Use the ladder when you reach higher sections. Hide the outlet inside the branch.
Step 5 | Insert the Lamp
When done, plug in the lights and inspect your tree from a distance. Adjust the position of the strings if any branches are hiding or blocking the light.
